The forum is dead, and I'm tired of cleaning out spam. I've disabled new user creation.

It need not end like this Jason!

What ever happened to the Mistress? I actually enjoyed this forum for it's diversification, with Americans, Canadians and Europeans made this forum what it was. I enjoyed Dales rants, Threoman, and The Phantom gave us much enjoyment, and of course the Self centered Americans and the leeching Canadians.

OldOs was ahead of it's day, but now many have superseded what OldOS was all about, OldVersion.com for example.

I am all for helping get older pc's running again, helping people (with programs like magical jellybean among others..)

There is such a wealth of old PC's, and even as this economy in the downturn, people will get the MOST out of their PC's. I am typing this on my AMD Athlon 2600+ 1.85 GHz processor with 2 Gb of RAM, running Micro$oft XP pro 2600 with service pack 2.

The old days were great, but everyone has moved on. I'll gladly take part in any conversations here but unless this place becomes active again I see no reason to make Jason delete all the spam postings this place has been getting.

Pretty much how I feel about it, too.

aww... I was trying to keep up on spam deletion for a while there, but things have been so hectic lately that I haven't had time. :-(

*mourns the OldOS forum*

First of all, I'm sorry to hear the forum's basically closing down for good now. Can't say I did anything to stop it, but since I saw my name get mentioned, I thought I'd stop by. As for René, I haven't a clue what he's doing now. I did speak to him on several occasions through MSN, but that pretty much stopped in about 2 to 3 months after he left the forum. Last thing I know he was doing translation work for his parents' company. About the others I know even less.

Since I can imagine some of you left here might hold something against me for basically vanishing into thin air at some point, I'll keep it brief. I'll check back on this topic in a few days and if there are people interested, I'll know soon enough then; if not, fair enough, and in the latter case, I'd like to wish you all well.

Peter

I certainly don't hold anything against you... I'm not much better with that kind of thing, especially with everything lately.

Yeah, well, you never know :-) I did have some weird (and short) conversations over the years with some other members of the board about this, so hence my presumptions.

All in all, I'm doing pretty well these days; I'm almost done at uni, which'll mean I'll have a masters degree in German linguistics (and some honourable mention for Danish). When it comes to computers, I don't fiddle around with the old stuff that much anymore, since my interests have shifted somewhat. Did buy an Xbox about a year ago, so feel free to add me (
Pjotr84).

I might be visiting Scandinavia later this year. If I make it to Denmark (that's where you're at, right?), maybe we can have a brew!

Well, that would be great, but unfortunately in live in Holland, not in Denmark. If you're flying via Schiphol, and not direcly to Copenhagen, and have a few hours, I could meet you there, though.

Well helloooo people! I just randomly decided to type forum.oldos.org in my browser and found this thread :O

It's hard to believe it's been almost 7 years since this place started out! June 2003, wow. I was 14.

It's sad to see this place so quiet. But as has been said, we've all had a lot of fun here. And for that I'm very grateful. :)

(Why is BBCode off? Lol.)

I'm 21 now, and I have my own translation business. I'm also studying for a BSc (Honours) Natural Sciences, and I'd like to think I've become a pretty good classical pianist and badminton player over the years. I've also become a Buddhist.

I started a forum for gay teens several years ago. It's pretty busy... 500-1000 posts per day, nearing 500,000 posts total (http://gayteenforum.org). On this forum I've met the love of my life, an amazing guy from Michigan called Brenden, and we're nearing our 1-year anniversary ^_^

I'm leaving in 2 weeks to spend the next 2.5 months with him there, during which we'll be getting a civil union in Vermont (we'll be getting married properly when we've been together longer and have enough money to throw a big party for my rather extensive family). After that he'll be spending 3 months with me in the Netherlands, following which we intend to settle down in the UK. We expect to move back to the Netherlands once we've both got our degrees.

So yeah, I've been busy :P

I've been busy as well. I have a small family now (me, my gf, and my 1 year old girl) and it's been quite an experience. Currently in college and I'm about tto graduate here soon with an Associate's Degree in Applied Science. I also have a full time job at my local ISP as an assistant network admin which takes care of things pretty good as well.

On a side note, I'd like to say I'm quite proud of René, considering the crap he was going through the last time we talked. I'd say he's quite a accomplished fellow. I'm glad things worked out.

See you guys around...

^_^

I was wondering if you'd be showing up!

You're a father!? Wooow! :D
Tell us more! Do you have your own house? Any wedding plans? How old are you now, by the way?
It sounds like you're doing well too!
